England's landlord register opens region by region from 15 Dec 2026. Pop in the postcode of the home you let to see its dates, the fee and what to have ready.

It's the government's new database of rented homes in England. Every landlord of an assured or regulated tenancy joins it.
The timetable
When registering becomes a requirement in each region and the last day to do it. Anyone can register from 15 Dec 2026.
The Private Rented Sector Database, which the government's service calls "Register your rental property". It comes from the Renters' Rights Act 2025. Landlords of assured or regulated tenancies in England register themselves and each home they let.
No. Anyone can register from 15 Dec 2026, whichever region their homes are in. Your region's dates are when it becomes a requirement.
Each home follows its own region's dates. If you'd rather do them all at once, you can register every one of them from 15 Dec 2026.
For now only homes that are let need registering, including any that become let during the rollout. The government plans to require unlet homes to be registered before they're marketed.
£65 a property, every year. During the rollout the fee is pro-rated, so registering early doesn't cost more.
Councils can start enforcing once a region's deadline has passed. A landlord who hasn't registered risks a fine.
The register covers England only. Each of the others runs its own scheme: Rent Smart Wales, Scotland's landlord register and Northern Ireland's landlord registration scheme.
No. We look it up to find its region, show you the dates and keep nothing about who asked. Where a postcode sits is kept for a while, so the next person asking about it gets their answer faster.
The one exception is a reminder, if you ask for one. Then we keep your email, the region and the first half of the postcode to send you the dates. If one of our adverts brought you here, we keep its name too, only to count which adverts work. Every reminder email has a link that deletes it. If you never use it, we delete the reminder 30 days after the region's deadline.
