What is the product safety register?
The Office for Product Safety and Standards publishes recalls, safety alerts and safety reports for products sold in the UK on GOV.UK. This tool searches that register.
If nothing comes up, is my appliance fine?
It means the register has no notice using those words, which is good to know but isn't a safety certificate. Try the brand on its own, the kind of appliance, or the model number exactly as it's printed on the rating plate.
What's the difference between a recall, an alert and a report?
A recall asks owners to act, usually to stop using a product until it's fixed, replaced or refunded. A safety alert warns about a product. A safety report sets out what was found and what the business is doing about it.
Is every recall on here?
It's everything on the GOV.UK register. Some manufacturers also run their own recall pages, so it's worth checking the brand's website too.
Do you keep what I search for?
No. We send your words to the register, show you what it finds and don't keep a record of who asked.
About this checker
This tool searches the GOV.UK product safety register and shows what it finds. It can't tell you whether your particular appliance is affected: only the model and batch details in a notice can do that. homehogs isn't connected to any manufacturer.
