About homehogs

homehogs exists because homes run on scattered paperwork and forgotten dates. Neither of those should be your job to remember.

Why homehogs exists

Every home quietly accumulates a second life in paperwork: the boiler manual in a kitchen drawer, the warranty in an email somewhere, the meter reading on the back of an envelope, the date the fixed rate ends that you were definitely going to write down. When you need any of it, you need it at once and it is never where you left it.

homehogs is the answer we wanted for our own homes: your home's memory, in one calm place, attached to the property, the room or the appliance it belongs to, with a nudge before the dates that matter rather than after.

Who's behind homehogs

homehogs is made by the two of us, Alex and Lauren.

The photo is us standing on the doorstep of our first home, keys in hand, with absolutely no idea what was waiting for us in the kitchen drawer… or, more importantly, what wasn't.

Alex comes from the technical side of buildings, with years of experience creating supply chain, building information, O&M and maintenance systems for the commercial sector. Lauren comes from a legal, administrative and client relationship background, where keeping on top of important documents, deadlines and information has always been part of everyday life.

When we bought our own home, we quickly realised how difficult that can be. Boiler manuals, old paperwork, bills, warranties, servicing dates and details of work carried out were scattered everywhere.

So we built the thing we wished we'd been handed with our keys: one simple, friendly place to keep the whole story of your home, remind you when things need doing and make life much easier when the day eventually comes to sell.

We think every home deserves the kind of organised record a commercial building gets, just without all the complexity.

And with a small pink helper, obviously.

What we believe

Four promises that shape every feature your home hog learns.

Yours alone

Your home's information belongs to you. It sits in one place you control and it is impossible for anyone else to see.

Easy to hand over

Share what you choose with the people you choose: a partner, a tenant, a solicitor, a buyer. Nothing more and never for longer than you say.

Nothing sold, nothing hidden

Your information is never sold or rented. Nothing you do inside your account is tracked or built into a profile. You choose which emails you get, bar the few your account needs to work.

Only what earns its place

A home is complicated enough. Everything here is built to be understood at a glance. A feature ships because it is useful on a real day, not to make a longer list.

Where we are

homehogs is built UK-first: the lookups, registers and conventions it leans on are British ones and the service is stored and run in the United Kingdom. More countries are planned and the plumbing for them is already in the walls.

If you would like to help shape it, the best way is to use it: add a home, file some paperwork and tell us what your home hog should learn next.
