Reporting content

Most of what homehogs holds is private to the household that keeps it. Some of it is shared on purpose: a handover pack sent to a buyer, a logbook shared with a builder, an article on our website. If something in one of those should not be there, this page says how to tell us and what we do about it.

What you can report

• Something in a shared pack or logbook that was not the sender's to share: a photograph of you, a document about you, personal details that should not have gone out.
• Something that uses your work without permission: a photograph, a drawing, a piece of writing.
• Anything else on a homehogs page that is unlawful, offensive or plainly wrong.

What to include

• The link. For a shared pack or logbook, the address you were sent; for a page on our website, the address in your browser.
• What the content is, so we can find it quickly.
• Why it should come down: that it is about you, that it is yours, or what else is wrong with it.
• Who you are and how to reach you. If you are reporting on somebody else's behalf, say so.

Where to send it

Email hello@homehogs.com with the subject line Content report. That subject is what gets it to the right person first. If you would rather use the support form, start your message with the same two words.

What happens next

1. We acknowledge your report within 2 working days. Reports of child abuse, terrorism or an intimate image come first.
2. We look at it and aim to decide within 10 working days. If we need more from you, we will ask.
3. If the content should not be there, we remove it or take the share down. We tell the person who put it there why, but never who made the report.
4. We tell you what we decided.

We cannot settle a dispute between two people over who owns a photograph or whether a fact is true. Where a report comes down to that, we will say so and point you to who can.

An intimate image of you

If something on homehogs, or shared from it, shows an intimate image of you that was shared without your consent, email hello@homehogs.com with the subject line Intimate image. In your email:

• tell us where it is (the link you were sent, or the page);
• say that it is an intimate image of you, or that you are acting for the person it shows and how;
• say that you are reporting it in good faith.

Your email gives us a way to reach you, so that is everything we need. We take it down as soon as we can and always within 48 hours of your report, along with any copy of it on homehogs that we know of or that you tell us about. If we decide it is not an intimate image, or that the report is not from the person it shows or somebody acting for them, we will tell you why. If you are unhappy with how we dealt with your report, reply to our email: we treat that as urgent and answer within 48 hours.

Images of child abuse

If you come across anything that looks like a child being abused, do not download it or pass it on. Report it to the Internet Watch Foundation, and to us with the subject line Content report. We take it down and report it to the National Crime Agency, as the law requires. If a child is in danger now, call 999.

If we removed something of yours

When we remove something you put in homehogs, or take down a link you shared, we email you with a reference. If you think we got it wrong, reply quoting that reference. We look at it again and tell you what we have decided within 5 working days. If we got it wrong, we say so and help you put it back.
